Manual method:

WARNING: Please only follow this method if you know what you are doing! You can easily destroy your installation of Windows if you do something wrong. I will NOT be providing detailed instructions for how to do this because if you attempt this, I assume you know how to do so.

Official Method:

Delete these files:

  • %SystemRoot%\system32\drivers\sfsync03.sys
  • %SystemRoot%\system32\drivers\sfhlp02.sys
  • %SystemRoot%\system32\drivers\sfdrv01.sys

And remove these registry entries:

  • HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\sfsync03
  • HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\sfhlp02
  • HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\sfdrv01

Alternative method:

  • Go back to the Device Manager and list the Non-PnP Devices. Uninstall all the Starforce entries and reboot after the last one.
  • Use Search and search for and delete these files: sfsync*.sys, sfhlp*.sys, sfdrv*.sys
  • Go to regedit and delete any entries related to: sfsync, sfhlp, sfdrv
